Yorkshire-headquartered insulation specialist, Miller Pattison, has appointed Alex McLeod as its new CEO with Mike Dyson retiring after two years as MD.

Alex has more than 10 years of experience in the insulation industry and he joins the firm from his previous role as a CEO of a manufacturing company supplying roofing and flooring products to the new build housing market. Before then, he was the CEO at the UK’s only independent manufacturer of glass mineral wool insulation.

Alex said: “I’m delighted to join Miller Pattison at such an exciting time for the business and will be working to sustain the momentum that the team has created.

“Miller Pattison is a highly regarded brand in the market with a loyal customer base and a rich history that dates back to 1965. The firm is one of the few truly national installers with branches located across the UK to maximise service to customers. It has 150 strong workforce and an experienced management team which form a business that boasts great industry expertise. With the strong support of our investors, Northedge Capital, Miller Pattison is well placed to capitalise on growing construction markets.”

Mike Dyson will remain on the company’s Board as a non-executive director, providing support to Alex. Having led the firm for more than two decades and retired in 2009, he returned to Miller Pattison in 2015 to lead a turnaround programme. The company completed an MBO in late 2015 and has since established a clear strategic direction, restructured the operating model and repositioned the business in the market – returning to profitable trading.

Warwick Ley, chairman at Miller Pattison, commented: “Mike has done an amazing job in the last two years. He has led an impressive turnaround and with the support of the management team, has been instrumental to reinvigorating growth plans. This has enabled Miller Pattison to attract such a high calibre recruit as Alex who has a wealth of industry experience that will aid him in taking Miller Pattison to new heights.”

Mike added: “I feel the mission I set out to achieve when I returned to the business in 2015 is now complete. With the company generating excellent profit and a strong management team in place, I know it’s the right time for me to hand over leadership to someone who has got the same vision for the business. Alex’s strong business acumen, extensive industry background and excellent contacts, means Miller Pattison remains in safe hands and I can’t wait to see where he takes it from here.”
